DRIVING ROUTE PIT STOPS

Rumble into town and check out these great spots!

Pitstop #1:

The Sylvan Lake Lighthouse

Originally modelled after the Lighthouse in Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. The red and white lighthouse has been an iconic symbol of Sylvan Lake since 1988 with a replacement being built in 2016. The Sylvan Lake lighthouse overlooks the lake and marina, one of the only inland lighthouses between the Pacific Coast and Lake Winnipeg.

Pitstop #2:

Artist's Alley

A unique space created from the alleyway behind businesses, discover local art on back doors! Nine art pieces sit along this alleyway just off of the downtown Centennial Street. Including Indigenous and local art.

Pitstop #3: Here Comes the Sun Mural

Painted in downtown Sylvan Lake in 2020, The Here Comes the Sun mural celebrates Sylvan Lake throughout the seasons and its year-round brilliance. It's a great place to stop for a photo!

Pitstop #4: CREATE mural

A second downtown mural painted by Jaimie Cooney with the help of the community sits in this downtown pocket park. Picnic tables make this a great place to stop and rest!

Pitstop #5: Beachfront & Lakeshore Drive

Sylvan Lake's iconic Lakeshore Drive is home to the hustle and bustle of the beating heart of the lakefront! The main beach runs along the North side of the street with a row of excellent restaurants, patios, and shops on the South side. This is the place to stop for a bite to eat and rest on your tour!

Pitstop #6: Jarvis Bay Provincial Park

Jarvis Bay is the closest provincial park located just five minutes drive outside of Sylvan Lake. It is a full service, large provincial campground open from May to October. Many wooded trails run through the Park and along the cliffs overlooking Sylvan Lake. This is a great dog-friendly stop!

A Hot Rod Hot Spot

Sylvan Lake attracts an abundance of motorcyclists, hot rods, and classic cars throughout the summer. Automotive enthusiasts thunder through, often coming in groups or stopping to show off along the lake.

If you’re lucky, you might catch a peek at a car meet up along Sylvan Lake’s iconic Lakeshore Drive in the early evening throughout the spring and summer. Classic cars, hotrods, and groups of identical vehicles in a rainbow of colors will blow into town for an impromptu meet up of like minded aficionados!

Drivers gather as a community to enjoy the trip out to Sylvan Lake when the day is cooling off against the sunset. You’ll spot a car meet up trailing into town or grouping in one of the beachside parking lots.

Lakefront Park’s gravel parking lot is the largest public lot and great for groups to get together right near the lighthouse. There are several paved lots near Centennial Park where vehicles can line up in a row and access Sylvan Lake’s beachfront directly.

Keep an eye out - you never know when you’ll spot them driving through!
