The Launch at Sylvan Lake is the community’s only public boat launch and gas dock with a wide range of services and supplies for a great day out on the water.
Conveniently located on the west side of the Waters Edge marina near the iconic Sylvan Lake lighthouse, the facility was designed with the boating enthusiast in mind. Check out the staging area, cement ramp launch, on-water boat fuel service, as well as a fully stocked watersports store and café.
“We have all the best brands for tubing, wakesurfing and more,” said Serena Reid, co-owner of The Launch at Sylvan Lake. “It’s great for local boating enthusiasts because you don’t need to drive to Calgary or Edmonton anymore.”
One stop shop for all your boating needs
Owners Scott and Serena Reid are long-time residents of Jarvis Bay and understand the needs of visitors and locals surrounding the lake. Since taking over the facility in the summer of 2021, the goal has been to provide residents and tourists everything they need for a day on the water.
“We were looking for an entrepreneurial adventure and The Launch was a natural fit,” Serena said. “Each year we’ve been able to expand and build strategic collaborations with other business owners.”
The Launch is also the central Alberta dealer for Phase Five, Hyperlite, HO Sports, Mission Boat Gear and FatSac, bringing you the best options for wakesurfing, life jackets, inflatable paddleboards, towable tubes, comp vests, inflatable water mats and other watersport necessities.
The boat launch itself is fully staffed to ensure everyone is on the water as quickly as possible. The Launch offers day, weekend, and seasonal passes for boats of all sizes. The day pass is perfect for a day at the lake and the fee is valid for use of the boat launch and retrieval on the same day.
“People are happy that we are here, and they can get gas right on the water. We try to be very customer focused and our staff call our regulars by name,” Serena said. “We get a lot of guests from all over Alberta and beyond.”
A family atmosphere where everyone is welcome
Not only does the Launch get you on the water, but the café also keeps snacks and drinks flowing for your day at the lake. Serena said the café partners with local suppliers to offer items such as sandwiches, hummus and veggies, pepperoni, and beef jerky from Lonestar Angus, and locally made charcuterie boards.
After a hot day on the water, kids and adults alike can grab ice cream or speciality made drinks. You can’t beat boating for a quintessential Sylvan Lake activity and the Launch ensures that you get on the water efficiently and safely.
“We are excited for 2024, and our regulars can’t wait for us to open and welcome them back. We strive for a family atmosphere where everyone feels welcome,” Serena said.
