HEART & HERITAGE

There’s nothing better than strolling through cobbled streets hunting down treasures in local boutiques. Canada's main streets were once a hub for the every day hustle and bustle, where social lives and livelihoods came together. As Sylvan Lake's first retail street, Main Street (now Centennial Street) was a place where you were just as likely to run into your neighbour as you were to find your groceries. Local hardware stores, bakeries, and doctor's offices of the past have made way for boutique shopping, hearty cafes, and local art tucked behind every corner.

Fun Fact: Centennial Street was originally named Main Street, the same name many small towns give their commercial streets. It was renamed in 2013 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the town. It also goes by 50 Street or Hwy 781. Sylvan Lake's founding is celebrated each year in mid-June at 1913 Days
