The Sylvan Lake Lighthouse is an iconic spot on the lake and one of the most popular spots for Instagram shots.

Not only is it cute for photos but it's got some history too! It's one of the only inland lighthouses between the Pacific Coast and Lake Winnipeg. Who knew?! Originally modelled after the Lighthouse in Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia, the lighthouse has been an quintessential piece of Sylvan Lake since 1988.

There’s always something happening on Lakeshore Drive regardless of the season. Whether it’s holiday lights or sunny summer strolls, you’ll find Instagram worthy shots throughout the year.

Lakeshore Drive is known for its sweeping sunset views and beachfront patio dining. And no Instagram feed is complete without the coveted foodie shot and the rooftop patios are just what you need to capture that vibe. Enjoy dining into the night with twinkle lights and outdoor fire tables that will really make your pictures pop. Golden hour here we come!

Photo opportunities are endless along the waterfront promenade. It passes beach areas, Centennial Park, shops, and attractions.

3. The Lake and Beach

You can't visit Sylvan without getting a snapshot of the beach and lake itself! The sandy shoreline is not something you would think to associate with Alberta, but that's what makes Sylvan Lake such an anomaly! The beachfront stretches west from the lighthouse to 34 street and it’s a popular spot when the sun is shining. You’ll find a grass park, beach boardwalk, groomed picnic areas and wilder natural areas. The perfect picnic is awaiting to be blasted on your social.

The lake’s spring-fed water will equally brighten up your feed and make your friends and family totally jealous. Take it one step further and jump on a canoe, kayak, paddleboard, boat... you name it, Sylvan's got it!

4. CP Trail

Easily a go-to spot for killer shots is the CP Trail in Sylvan Lake.

It’s off the beaten path and great place for a little peace and quiet. Much of the trail is covered in tree canopy making it ideal for nature lovers! And if you're super lucky you may even snap a photo of some pretty songbirds. It takes about an hour to cover one way and it's a great access spot to the disc golf course.
