New Year’s Fireworks

Description: Fireworks to celebrate the New Year! Starting at 7pm with horse-drawn carriage rides.

Family Skating & Sledding Party

January 20
Description: An afternoon to spend outside sledding down a hill and enjoying skating on a community rink with special guest characters. 



February 14-16 (Family Day Weekend)
Description: Consider yourself invited to the Town of Sylvan Lake’s Winterfest! Its a weekend of winter fun for your entire family. If you’d like to host an event at the festival, whether indoor, outdoor pursuit, kids games, or family actives, we’d love to have you. Submit your event info to by January 23, 2020.

Polar Bear Dip

Description: Its an annual tradition of crazy but for a great cause! Consider yourself invited to take the plunge into sub zero Sylvan Lake, for the towns annual Polar Dip! Register early so you can start fundraising for a local charity.

An excuse to get messy while celebrating the end of Winter! Join us as we welcome Springs’s arrival and telling Winter to BEAT IT through colorful and cultural activities! A festival full of bright colors and outdoor activities on ice. 


Home Lifestyle Show – CANCELLED

Location: On The Lake
The 2nd annual home and lifestyle show showcases local businesses to promote and connect with the community, while exploring home and lifestyle solutions. Admissions for patrons is free, but we will be accepting donations at the door for the Sylvan Lake Food Bank.

Calling all foodies! This is an event you wont want to miss. Be sure you have an elastic waist band for this event, because we’re hosting a food truck fest with dozens of trucks, bouncy castles, and a live DJ!


1913 Days

June 12 – 14
Location: Various locations around Sylvan Lakes
Consider yourself invited to our 1913 Days Celebration. Enjoy events all weekend long as we salute beautiful Sylvan Lake!

Canada Day Celebrations

July 1

Consider yourself invited to celebrate Canada’s Birthday in Sylvan Lake! A day full of activities for the entire family. 

We are looking for groups to host events through the day! If you are interested in hosting an event, submit your event information to by May 25th, 2020.

Description: After dark its time to head to the lakeshore and boaters take to the water to watch a truly incredible fireworks display for all to see. Our firework showcase is the perfect way to come together and celebrate Canada’s Birthday!

Movies at the Beach

July 2- August 27,2020
Time: Dusk
Location:Centennial Park
A new tradition and the perfect way to enjoy summers at Sylvan Lake. Movies on the Beach returns for 2020 as we feature a new movie each Thursday throughout the summer! Grab your blankets and chair and enjoy a flick under the stars! Food trucks will also be on location for snacks and treats.

The event is weather dependent; The use of alcohol and drugs is not tolerated.

JAWS at the Lake

August 2, 2020
Time: 5:00pm-12:00am
Location: Lakefront Park

Description: A popular event gaining traction all across Western Canada and beyond. Enjoy an experience with a classic movie out on the lake from Lakefront Park. A water themed summer movie will be feature that’s sure to keep your feet out of the water. Just in case!

Bring your floatie and watch on the lake or for the more cautious types, bring a lawn chair or blanket and watch on land with a double sided screen. 

The event is weather dependent. The use of alcohol and drugs will not be tolerated. 

If you do not possess strong swimming skills, please bring a life  vest or consider watching from land.  


Info Night Fun Fest

September 10, 2020
Time: 4:30-7:30pm
Location: NexSource Centre
An information evening highlighting local non-profit organizations, and groups for registrations with carnival games. Want to set up a booth? Register at the NexSource Centre. 


September 11
Time: 6:00-9:00pm
Location: Lakeshore Drive
Join a culinary  and art experience with food locations at local restaurants along Lakeshore Drive! Sample and enjoy a wide variety of specialty appetizers, drinks, music and art. Stations and locations along Lakeshore Drive and Centennial Street will provide a walk from place to place, in this unique experience for Sylvan Lake!

Also, celebrate the end of summer with an old fashioned street dance with a twist on some new music! A community dance with music from the ears, for the entire family to enjoy. 

Flannel & Feast Festival

September 26

A celebration of arts, culture, & Heritage for Alberta Culture Days, the festival is full of arts, music, entertainment, and activities on Centennial Street. And flannel. LOTS of flannel. 


Spooktacular Halloween Party

Ghosts, witches, pirates and all monsters in between…enjoy an afternoon of games, craft and CANDY! Have a hauntingly good time showing off your costume in a warm, safe, environment, free from snow.

Bull Riders Canada Championship Finals

November 5

Back another year! The 2020 Bull Riders Canada Finals return to the NexSource Centre as 25 of the best bull riders and cowboys across the country compete for cash and the right to call themselves Champions! Enjoy two nights of bull riding actions followed by two enjoyable cabarets to follow with live music and more!
