Hit the road with an e-scooter!
New this summer, visitors and residents can explore Sylvan Lake in an exciting new way! Bright orange e-scooters can be seen around the community thanks to a partnership between Neuron Mobility and the Town of Sylvan Lake.
The e-scooters are a fun, convenient and environmentally friendly way to explore Sylvan Lake. From their innovative geofencing technology, helmet lock, to their safe stable design, e-scooters are a unique experience in the community – showcasing a new side of Sylvan Lake!
“You can use the e-scooters to go places you can’t get to with a car. You go at a slower pace and are able to appreciate what is around you,” said Isaac Ransom, the head of Neuron corporate affairs.
Bringing Micromobility to Sylvan Lake!
The bright orange scooters can be seen throughout Sylvan Lake and taking a ride requires a few easy steps. Download the Neuron app via the Apple Store or Google Play Store to start. Then, find an available scooter around Sylvan Lake and scan the QR code. Follow the prompts on the app, and you’re ready to take a ride.
The 2023 season cost to unlock the scooter is $1.15 after which riders are charged 39 cents per minute. Packages are also available for users wanting to ride for up to 90-minutes per day at a fixed price. A three-day ($25) or weekly ($39) option is available for that next vacation in Sylvan Lake.
Advanced geofencing technology controls where the e-scooters can be ridden and parked, as well as how fast they can travel in certain areas. The e-scooters are permitted on sidewalks, bike lanes, paved trails, and roads with a speed limit of 50 km/hour or lower. According to Ransom, you don’t have to be an athlete to enjoy the e-scooters.
“We see all kinds of people riding the e-scooters, young and old. A lot of riders have mobility issues and it’s a viable way of exploring when you can’t walk or a ride a bike. Really anybody can ride, and a lot of our riders are young at heart,” Ransom said.

Safety measures such a slow-ride zones and no-ride zones have been built into the system using state-of-the-art geofencing technology. The e-scooters also have a ‘Follow My Ride’ feature, allowing riders to share their trip with family and friends in real-time.
Neuron e-scooters are available in 17 different cities across Canada and using the same app offered across the country, catching a ride in Sylvan Lake has never been easier.
“If you are coming through Sylvan Lake for a weekend and have the app, you can plan to use a Neuron e-scooter as a convenient and sustainable way of exploring a new place,” Ransom said.
