With a seating capacity of 1200 plus, energy in the stands is reminiscent of old-time baseball fun. The brand-new state of the art stadium is just a five-minute drive from the beach at Pogadl Park.
Expect to see top college prospects from both sides of the border in this wood bat league. The Western Canadian Baseball League is Canada’s premier summer collegiate league providing exciting baseball at a high level.
“There’s lots happening behind the scenes for fans this year. We are adding the Bonefish Marine BBQ Shack with a 12-foot BBQ,” said Sylvan Lake Gulls President Aqil Samuel. “We will also be offering new items such as ice cream. We can’t wait.”
Along with food options, a new shuttle service will bring fans from the heart of Sylvan Lake to the Stadium. A 30-seat bus will take ticket holders from the parking lot at Sylvan Lake’s NexSource Centre to the front gates of the Stadium.
Every season, the Sylvan Lake Gulls offer theme nights that take the fun up a notch! The home opener game featured the Sea of Gold, where fans decked themselves out in gold flair. Other nights include the Vegas Night, Hawaiian Night, and more!
As for the team itself, expect to see players from around North America. The Gulls are welcoming back 14 returning players and 16 new players. A season in the WCBL is a short one, running from the end of May until the middle of August. Players will move from their universities and colleges throughout Canada and the United States to Sylvan Lake to become a Sylvan Lake Gull. The experience on the team, give the Gills a competitive edge, guaranteeing entertaining baseball.
