Stay the week and celebrate the holidays in the winter paradise this December! Play outside, gather together, and take in the festive magic of the holiday season at the lake. Add these must-do's to your holiday hit list
Sylvan Lake Winter Village
This Winter Village takes over the Sylvan Lake Pier with over 300,000 twinkling lights from December to March each year. Glittery walks under twinkling and dancing lights are the perfect place for a festive photo underneath a lit archway.
The Winter Village is home to the Christmas Tree Planter Parade, sponsored by businesses and organizations that compete with their unique decorating skills. Vote for your favorite decorated mini Christmas tree using the QR codes attached to the planters.
On the weekends, sponsored bonfire nights are a great way to cuddle up after your Winter Village walk and enjoy some entertainment around the fire.

Ice Fishing
Sylvan Lake is home to whitefish, walleye, perch, burbot, and pike. When the lake freezes over, fishing shacks in every style and color take over the ice, creating cozy shelters for those who are hoping to catch a bite!
Ice fishing adventure rentals are available from several providers in Sylvan Lake, or bring your own equipment and try your luck. There are even a few providers who do overnight ice fishing adventure rentals for a truly unique winter experience.
Keep an eye out for The Big Jig ice fishing event February long weekend - ice fishers at all skill levels will have the chance to snag the Longest Catch and win great prizes.
Lake Skating
Nothing says winter wonderland like lacing up your skates and twirling around on the lake rinks! Circle the Christmas tree and stay until dusk when the lights under the ice surface come on to the glittery backdrop of the Winter Village in the distance. Pro tip: bring your own skates, skate rentals are not available in Sylvan Lake.

Boutique Holiday Shopping
Giving heartfelt gifts is just as much fun as shopping for treasures from boutiques that carefully curate and hand-select the wares they keep in store. Spend an afternoon hunting down the perfect holiday gifts at many of the boutiques around town. Downtown boasts many small boutiques with many other fantastic shops scattered throughout the town.
Snow Karts
Snow karts are a ton of fun to race around the lake. Head out for a rip on the lake and let the powder fly!

Pond hockey and ODRs
Grab your buds for a round of pond hockey out on the Lake! There are several lake rinks that are meant for shooting and hockey games. There are also many outdoor rinks throughout town to practice on as well
A classic winter activity the whole family will love! In Sylvan Lake, Leader Field is the favorite tobogganing spot. Nearby parking lots make it easy to access. Be sure to bundle up for a whole afternoon of sledding fun.

Get your lumberjack on and let the axes fly at Wood Shed Axe Throwing. A fun activity for groups and all ages 10+, their super helpful staff will coach you through to the bulls-eye! They're also home to Canada's first digitally interactive targets.

If you live for the rush of driving a snowmobile, quad, or ATV - don't miss the winter season in Sylvan Lake. The lake ice is the perfect playground for adventure and spraying powder!
Snowshoeing
The perfect place for snowshoeing is in Jarvis Bay Provincial Park, just a couple minutes drive outside of Sylvan Lake. Woods surround a series of trails that weave through the campground and along the bluffs overlooking the lake
Steam and Spa
New Year's Fireworks
Ring in the New Year with fireworks over the lake! To stay cozy and have a front-row seat, find a restaurant on Lakeshore Drive with a view overlooking the Pier. Dinner and fireworks - the best way to end off the holiday season in Sylvan Lake!
