FAMILY FRIENDLY HOLIDAY FUN

Skating and Hockey

There’s nothing like flying around the ice! The most popular skating rink is on the Lake. It can be
accessed from Lakeshore Drive and 49 street. The oval rink with a big Christmas tree in the middle is
best for just-for-fun skating, whereas those looking to play hockey should aim for the rectangular rink
next door. Bring your own skates, stick, puck, and don’t forget to stop along Lakeshore Drive for a hot
chocolate to warm up afterwards!

There are many other skating rinks throughout the community:

Enjoy the Lights at the Winter Village

A dazzling light show takes over the pier beginning in December through the winter season. Great for
the whole family to play in the snow, watch dancing lights set to music, take in the atmosphere, and find
the perfect lit archway for a holiday photo.

No cost. Runs December – March, dusk till dawn on the Sylvan Lake Pier at Lakeshore Drive and 50
street. Learn more by visiting Winter Village’s Facebook Page >

Tobogganing

Take to the hills for a whole day of family fun slipping and sliding your way down on whatever kind of
toboggan you’ve got! The best location for tobogganing is in Leader Field, a public park where the hill
bottoms out onto open space and is great for all ages of kids.

Find Leader Field on the corner of Memorial Trail and 60 street.

Holiday Sweets

No trip to Sylvan Lake is complete without stopping in at the Big Moo. A family-run local business, The
Big Moo has been bringing delight to families for years. Stop in during the holidays for the classic scoop
of ice cream, or branch out and try their range of hot drinks, fudge, and other seasonal decorated treats
that kids and kids-at-heart won’t be able to resist!
