It’s Spring in Sylvan and the lake is calling! With new adventures left right and centre, locals and visitors are officially invited to dive into a fresh new season. With mild weather and flowers bursting to bloom, spring is the perfect time to experience all that Sylvan has to offer.

Tie up your laces – it’s time to make some moves on your bucket list. Here are our top things to do in Sylvan Lake this Spring!

  1. Get your steps IN!

    When Spring is finally in the air, renewal feels both imminent and natural. There’s nothing like grabbing some sneakers and hitting Sylvan Lake’s amazing trail system. Sylvan Lake trails and walking routes are generally stroller friendly. On a sunny day, (which we have in abundance) you’ll find everyone from toddlers to seniors enjoying Sylvan Lake’s mellow routes. Walkers will find a combination of paved and gravel trails through open fields, woods, and along the beach.
    Fun Fact: Did you know that Sylvan Lake was named from the Latin word ‘sylvanus’ meaning “of a forest” for the many trees in the area? Be on the lookout for poplar and birch trees that create a wooded wonderland.

  2. Ride Local Bike Trails

    Sylvan Lake’s trail network provides over 25-kilometres of trails connecting amazing parks, the vibrant downtown and the famous lakefront. Regardless of your age or ability, grab your bike or rent an e-bike or scooter and explore the town and the surrounding area. Plan a route or take the road less traveled and explore the abundance of viewpoints around the lake. There are even hidden playgrounds to be found, but just remember, it’s about the journey, not the destination!
    Lakeside Lowdown: A favourite among locals and visitors alike is Sylvan Lake’s boardwalk trail, which  is buzzing with energy. The boardwalk runs along the water, making it the perfect place to catch sunrises and sunsets. From 50 street to 46 street and Centennial Park, this trail is the hub for beach goers. East from Centennial Park to 34 street, the trail is much quieter and more treed.

  3. Golf in the warm weather!

    Spring wouldn’t be complete without a picturesque visit to on or more of Sylvan Lake’s great golf courses. Teeing off over smooth fairways with lake views is an amazing way to welcome the Spring season. As the snow melts and the greens come alive, Sylvan Lake becomes a golfer’s paradise for those eager to kick off their season. Each course has its own character and challenge levels, whether you’re seeking a test of your skills or a leisurely round, you’ll find the perfect match in Sylvan Lake. Within the town, check out the Sylvan Lake Golf & Country Club (open to the public!) and Meadowlands Golf Club, or take a quick 10-minute drive to find yourself at Lakewood Golf Resort.  Just want to focus on your short game?  Watch for opening day at Lakeside Go-Karts & Mini Golf for some fun right along the lakeshore!

  4. Catch the big one!

    Once the ice melts from the lake, Sylvan becomes a fishers dream destination. Bring your boat or rent your great and get some serious on the water fishing done! Sylvan Lake is renowned for it’s exceptional fishing quality. Battle it out with a Walleye, Northern Pike or Lake Whitefish. No boat? No problem! Discover fishing off the pier, where calm waters make a great spot if your sans boat, or check out local boat rentals from Sun Sport Recreation, Adventure Ice Fishing, or Icewater Adventures.

    Take your pick from a plethora of amazing lakeside patios on Lakeshore Drive. Beat the Summer heat and come explore Sylvan’s foodie scene ahead of time. There is more than just patios though, explore the whole town in a culinary treasure hunt, you’ll be sure to find some hidden gems. With over 20 different eateries to choose from, there is something for every appetite and budget. And be sure to check out some of Sylvan’s amazing coffee shops for a hot or cold bevie!
